Tuesday 23rd June 2020
Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope that you and your families are well and are keeping healthy in these very strange and unbelievable times. It is at times like these that we realise how important our family and friends are and how our school plays an important part in the lives of so many of you.
I wanted to let you know about our plans for September, as much as we can make plans in this ever changing future. We have a number of staff who are moving on to new and exciting jobs and I’m sure you will join with me in wishing Miss. Worthington, Mrs. Fishwick, Miss. deVilliers, Mrs. Lawless and Mr. Childs well in their new roles and also thanking them for all the hard work they have done for the families of Moorside Community School.
The Governors have been busy and I’m proud to announce that we have made some important appointments to carry the school forward.
Mrs. Higgs will be our new Headteacher, see below her letter of introduction. Mrs. Egan and Mrs. Lloyd will be stepping up to become Assistant Headteachers. Mrs. Quinn will become our SENDCo and Mrs. Carter and Mrs. Rehman will join the middle management team with responsibility for the curriculum. We are also delighted to announce that Miss. Presley and Miss. Mettrick will be staying with us at Moorside and we have Miss. Healy joining the team as a Newly Qualified Teacher. Miss. Healy is well known to the children and families in Y2 as she has spent this last year with us working alongside Mrs. Egan as a trainee teacher. Our fantastic team of Pastoral staff and support staff all remain unchanged.
We are now therefore in a position to inform you of the class teachers for next year:
Nursery (NQ) Mrs. C. Quinn
Reception (RP) Miss. M. Presley
Year 1 (1R) Mrs. P. Rehman
Year 2 (2E) Mrs. J. Egan and Mrs. R. Knight
Year 3 (3H) Mrs. M. Healy
Year 4 (4C) Mrs. A. Carter
Year 5 (5M) Mrs. A. Mettrick
Year 6 (6L) Mrs. N. Lloyd
I know that you are receiving school work and regular updates about school openings and I can assure you that the Governors are working closely with the school staff to ensure that Moorside Community Primary School will be a safe and secure educational environment for your child in the future.
Thank you for your continuing support.
Mrs. M. Garbett
Chair of Governors
Introduction from the appointed Headteacher
Dear Parent/Carer,
It gives me great pleasure to be writing to you as the newly appointed Headteacher of Moorside Community Primary School.
I already have great affection for the school as it is where I started my career as a ‘Newly Qualified Teacher’ over 20 years ago! I have since gained extensive teaching and leadership experience across all year groups, in Calderdale and for the past 6 years as a Deputy Headteacher in Bradford. I feel extremely honoured and privileged to have been chosen to return to Moorside and build upon the success the school has already achieved.
We all want the best for our children and I believe that this is best achieved when school and home work in partnership together. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your children over the forthcoming weeks and listening to your thoughts and ideas. (The current Covid 19 situation may mean that we have to approach this with more ‘creativity’!)
You can be assured that as Headteacher, I will strive to deliver the best education for your child/children and that Moorside Community Primary School will continue to provide a happy, safe, secure and nurturing environment where all children can achieve their full potential and are ‘Proud to Succeed’.
Over the forthcoming weeks, I will be visiting Moorside to ensure a smooth handover with Miss Worthington. I have already met several members of staff and I have been grateful for the warm welcome that I have received.
Yours faithfully,
Mrs. H. Higgs
